Saraswati or Sárasuatī (in Vedic script) was a goddess worshiped in the Vedic religion.
Sarasvati is considered the wife of Brahma by the main mythological authorities. But the Bengal Vaishnavas have a popular legend that she was the wife of Vishnu, just like Lakshmi and Ganga.
She dwells on earth among men, but her special abode is situated in the rahmaloka, together with her husband.
Saraswati is known as the goddess of speech, arts, music, and knowledge. Her name in Sanskrit translates as something like “essence of being” (saara, essence; swa, being), and this is believed to be the quality of this Hindu goddess. She is known as “the goddess of wisdom”, “patron of science”, “mother of the Vedas”, “inventor of letters”, “goddess of music”, “inspirer of poetry” and “advocate of the arts”. It is realized that it was she who gave language to humans. Saraswati personifies the ultimate principle of sound (sábda), which becomes manifest from the ethereal world to the plane perceptible by the human being through speech, mantras and music.
Saraswati is a very beautiful goddess, fair-skinned and dressed in a way that evokes her majesty, her creative power and her purity, which is why she is represented with white flowers and white cloth.
With one hand she holds a mala, a necklace for meditation, which we will learn to activate in this course, and in the other, the manuscript that she holds in her hand symbolizes higher knowledge and knowledge, and represents the Vedas.
With her two remaining hands she holds a sitara (veena), which symbolizes the arts, music and creativity, as well as the harmony between the intellect and the mind to achieve happiness. The swan, which is popularly believed to be able to separate milk from water, symbolizes the need to distinguish between good and bad.
